Join us on a trip that combines some of the most exciting ancient cities found in Turkey with visits to small boutique wineries and a chance to taste some of the best food Turkey can offer. We will visit the stunninly beautiful Salda Lake, explore the ruins of Afrodisias and Ephesus, discover the lime terracces in Pamukkale, enjoy small, friendly Agean towns and taste plenty of good wine and local food.
We will start from Side early in the morning and drive through the Taurus Mountains where we will stop for a traditional Turkish breakfast before we continue to Salda Lake. This lake is called the Maldives of Turkey with its white beaches and crystal blu water. You will have time for taking photoes and a short swim before we continue.
After lunch in a local restaurant we willexplore the ancient city of Afrodisias. This city got its name from Aphrodite and is the city of love. It is on the UNESCO list and is one of the most interesting and best preserved ancient cities in Turkey with a great museum.
We end our day in the cosy town Selçuk where we will stay overnight in a small boutique hotel in the old town. In the evening we will try the Agean kitchen in one of the small restaurants before we take a walk in the historical areas of the town.
We will start our day in Ephesus, the most famous ancient city in Turkey. This used to be the most important Greek and Roman city in Asia Minor. We will walk through all of the city to see all the famous sights like the temple of Artemis, the Celius Liberary, House of Virgin Mary, the ancient theatre and much more. After Ephesus we will drive to the touristic port of Kuşadası where we will have lunch before we continue to Urla.
Urla is a gem unknown to most tourists. This small town is situated by the Agean coast not far from Izmir. The town has got a beautiful harbour and a cosy town center. It is famous for artichokes and they produce many different meals and even sweets from this vegetable. At the same time this is the home for many small wine producers as the area is convenient for grape production. You find one of Turkey’s most famous wineroutes in this area.
We will visit one of the local wine producers before we drive to the harbour and enjoy a seafood dinner. We will stay overnight in a small boutique hotel in Urla.
After breakfast we will continue on the wineroute and visit two more small wineries and try the local wines before we visit Urla center where you will have some free time for shopping and luch. After lunch we continue to Izmır the capital of the Agean region and the third biggest city in Turkey. After a city tour you will have free time in İzmir in the evening.
After breakfast in the hotel we leave Izmır and drive towards Denizli. In Denizli we will visit one of Turkey’s most famous places – Pamukkale. The white travertines made from thermal waters have been a touristic attraction even in ancient times. Just above the travertines you find the ancient city of Hierapolis with the Cleotara bath where you can swim in thermal water in betweenRoman ruins.
You will have free time in Pamukkale where you can swim, strol around the ruins and enjoy the view from the travertines. After a stop for lunch in Denizli we will drive back to Side.
