Roundtrip in Georgia

Join us for a round trip in Georgia, a country in the Caucasus region of Eurasia, that has become a popular destination for tourists the last few years. Georgia has a rich and diverse culture, history, and nature, with many UNESCO World Heritage Sites, ancient churches, monasteries, fortresses, caves, mountains, lakes, and forests.

DAY 1: Batumi

We start our trip in Batumi, the third-largest city and the main seaside resort of Georgia. Batumi is a lively and modern city with a subtropical climate, sandy beaches, palm trees, and a vibrant nightlife. We visit the Batumi Boulevard, a 7-kilometer long promenade along the Black Sea coast, and see the Alphabet Tower, the Ferris Wheel, the Dancing Fountains, and the Statue of Ali and Nino. You can also explore the Batumi Botanical Garden, which has a collection of over 5,000 plant species from different regions of the World or can also check out the Batumi Dolphinarium, which offers dolphin shows and swimming with dolphins. For dinner we will visit one of the best local restaurants where you can try some of the local specialties, such as ajapsandali (vegetable stew), borano (cheese in butter), and khinkali (dumplings). We stay overnight in Batumi.

DAY 2: Kutaisi

After breakfast, we drive to Kutaisi, the second-largest city and the former capital of Georgia. Kutaisi is an ancient city with a history of over 4,000 years. We visit the Bagrati Cathedral, a 11th-century masterpiece of Georgian architecture and a symbol of the unity of the Georgian people. You will also see the Gelati Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a center of culture and education in medieval Georgia. Later we explore the Prometheus Cave, one of the largest and most beautiful caves in Georgia, with stalactites, stalagmites, underground rivers, and lakes and enjoy the natural beauty of the Okatse Canyon, a 14-kilometer long gorge with a 2-kilometer long walkway and a 100-meter high waterfall.

DAY 3: Gori and Mtskheta

On the third day we drive to Gori, the birthplace of Joseph Stalin, the former leader of the Soviet Union. We will visit the Stalin Museum, which displays his personal belongings, photos, documents, and gifts. You can also see the Stalin House, where he was born and lived until the age of four, and the Stalin Train, which he used for his travels. After this visit we continue to the Uplistsikhe Cave Town, an ancient rock-hewn town that dates back to the 2nd millennium BC. You can see the remains of temples, palaces, streets, and tunnels carved into the sandstone cliffs.

After lunch we continue to Mtskheta, the former capital and one of the oldest cities of Georgia. Mtskheta is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a spiritual center of the Georgian Orthodox Church. We will visit the Jvari Monastery, which overlooks the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers, and the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, where the robe of Christ is said to be buried. You can also see the Samtavro Monastery, where the first Christian king and queen of Georgia are buried. In the evening we continue to our hotel in Tbilisi. We will stay in the same hotel for four nights.

DAY 4: Tbilisi

Tbilisi is the capital and largest city of Georgia. It is a charming and colorful city with a mix of old and new, traditional and modern, Eastern and Western influences. We will explore the Old Town, where you can see the Narikala Fortress, the Metekhi Church, the Sioni Cathedral, the Bridge of Peace, and the Abanotubani district, famous for its sulfur baths. We will also visit the Holy Trinity Cathedral, the largest Orthodox church in Georgia, and enjoy the panoramic views of the city from the Mtatsminda Park. You will also get some free time to explore on your own or maybe do some shopping.

DAY 5:Kazbegi

After city life we will make a trip to Kazbegi, a mountainous region in the north of Georgia. You can enjoy the scenic drive along the Georgian Military Highway, and stop at the Ananuri Fortress, a 17th-century castle complex on the Aragvi River. We will also see the Gudauri ski resort, the Friendship Monument, and the Jvari Pass, the highest point of the highway. When we arrive in Kazbegi, we take a 4x4 vehicle to the Gergeti Trinity Church, a 14th-century church located on a hilltop with stunning views of Mount Kazbek, one of the highest peaks in the Caucasus. Return to our hotel in Tbilisi.

DAY 6: Kakheti

Kakheti is the eastern region of Georgia and the cradle of wine-making. Georgia is one of the oldest wine-producing countries in the world, with a history of over 8,000 years. We will visit the Alaverdi Monastery, the largest medieval cathedral in Georgia, and the Gremi Fortress, the former capital of Kakheti. We will also see the Tsinandali Estate, the residence of the 19th-century poet and public figure Alexander Chavchavadze, and the Shumi Winery, where you can taste some of the finest Georgian wines and learn about the traditional method of making wine in clay vessels called qvevri. We will end the day with a visit to the city of Sighnaghi, known as the “City of Love” and famous for its romantic atmosphere, cobblestone streets, and beautiful views of the Alazani Valley. Return to our hotel in Tbilisi

DAY 7: Tbilisi

Depending on your flight time you will have free time in Tbilisi. We will drive you to the airport or bus station.
