DAY 1
We will arrive at Rhodes harbor from Turkey in the morning with a ferryboat. We first drive to visit the village of Lindos, a charming whitewashed settlement that overlooks a beautiful bay. Here we will explore the ancient acropolis of Lindos, which features a temple of Athena, a Byzantine church, and a medieval fortress. We have lunch in one of the best local restaurants in Lindos serving amazing seafood and starters. Then we continue to explore Rhodes Old Town, a Unesco World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe. You can admire the impressive Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes, visit the Archaeological Museum of Rhodes, and wander the cobbled alleys and courtyards of the old town. We stay overnight in a small cozy hotel in Rhodes Town.
DAY 2
After a delicious breakfast we walk to the harbor and get on the ferryboat to Symi. Once you arrive at the main port of Symi, called Yalos, you will be amazed by the picturesque view of the town, which looks like a painting. You can walk along the waterfront, where you will find many shops, cafes, and taverns, or climb the Kali Strata, a long staircase that connects the lower and upper parts of the town. You can also visit the Museum of Symi, which displays exhibits related to the history and culture of the island, or the Naval Museum, which showcases the maritime tradition of Symi.
You will have time to explore the town and to enjoy the local cuisine. Symi is famous for its seafood, especially the small shrimps that are caught only in the island’s waters. You can try the simian baby shrimp, fried or boiled, in one of the many taverns that offer a great view of the sea. You can also taste other local specialties, such as stuffed calamari, octopus salad, cheese pies, and honey balls.
In the early evening we take the ferry back to Turkey. (you can choose if you want to return to Fethiye or Marmaris via Rhodes or continue to Datca directly from Symi)
