ITINERARY
Collection from your hotel or home at 09:00 and onto our first visit to Side where we walk through the ruins. Here you will see well preserved shopping streets, the agora, the Nympheum, city walls, temples, baths and much more of this ancient Pamphylian city situated on a small peninsula. We stop for refreshments in the beautiful old town harbour before a visit to the archaeological museum.
Driving onto our next stop to see the Aspendos ancient city. Here we visit the magnificent Aspendos Roman amphitheatre, the best preserved ancient amphitheatre in Turkey and it has been said in the world. It bears the traces from different historic periods and was built during the reign of Marcus Aurelius between 160-180 AD. Aspendos is famous for its original Roman aqueducts which were designed to carry water from the mountains to the city 15 km away.
We have our lunch in a local restaurant then continue on to the ancient city of Silyon. Located on a hill rising 210 meters above the plain this ancient Pamphylian city has suffered serious damage to the ancient ruins and buildings which happened by a dramatic landslide in 1969, however it hasn’t taken away the sites and there is still a lot of interesting roman history to see and explore along with a beautiful panoramic view from the top. After exploration here we will drive directly back to your hotel or home.
