DAY 1
We start from Antalya (or Side) early in the morning. Our first stop is at a small cafe in the Taurus Mountains where we have a good breakfast. Then we drive directly to Fethiye. Here we visit Kayaköy, a Greek ghost town located beautifully in the mountains and Turkey’s perhaps most famous beach - Ölüdeniz before we go to Fethiye center where we have lunch in the cozy Fish Market. After lunch we continue to the beautiful port town of Göcek. This is one of the most popular places for boaters along the coast. From Göcek we have a short drive before we arrive in Dalyan where we will stay overnight. We stay at a nice hotel right by the beautiful river with a view of historical royal tombs. We have dinner at the hotel.
DAY 2
We start the day with a lovely boat trip on the beautiful Dalyan river. Along the way you can see the ruins from the ancient city of Kaunos famous for its royal tombs carved into the mountainsides. We follow the river until we reach the beautiful Iztuzu beach. This is a protected beach as Caretta turtles lay eggs in this area. After a swim break on the beach we travel back to Dalyan and drive from there to Marmaris. Here we stop for lunch before we continue to one of the Turks’ favorite places- Datça. This cozy town is located on a peninsula far west in Turkey in an area that is famous for Olives, Almonds and wine. The town has been a popular place for many of the country’s artists and writers. Here we will visit a small local winery and relax in the town’s idyllic center.
DAY 3
We leave Datça after breakfast and travel to Akyaka, another popular holiday destination for Turkish tourists. This idyllic little town is a member of the Citta Slow movement. In addition to visiting the center of town, we also take a boat trip on the beautiful Azmak river. After the boat trip we start driving towards Denizli. On the way we will visit Aphrodisias, one of the most beautiful ancient cities in Turkey. The city got its name after Aphrodite and was the city of love. It is famous for fantastic statues and carved marble and has a great museum. From Aphrodisias we drive directly to Pamukkale where we will stay overnight at a thermal hotel. After dinner you can enjoy a healing bath in hot springs.
DAY 4
We start the day with a visit to Pamukkale with its beautiful white limestone terraces and ancient city of Hierapolis. Here you get some time on your own before we go to Denizli center where we take a walk in the traditional district. This gives you an opportunity to experience Turkey completely outside the tourist areas. It is also very cheap if you want to shop for textiles or anything else. We also stop at the city’s oldest candy factory where you can taste traditional Turkish sweets. On the way back to Side we also visit the beautiful Salda lake. This is called Turkey’s answer to Maldives. Because of the minerals found in the lake, the beach around the lake is chalk white and the lake is sky blue. For those who want it, there will be an opportunity for a little swim before we drive back to Side.
